About
Small tools, made deliberately boring
Plybyte is a workbench of the little utilities every developer reaches for, built to be fast, private and completely unremarkable to use, in the best way.
Why it exists
Search for "format JSON" and you land on a page that wants cookies, shows three ad slots, asks you to sign in, and then, eventually, formats your JSON, possibly after sending it to a server you know nothing about. We wanted the opposite: open a page, paste, get your answer, close the tab. Plybyte started as a handful of single-file tools for exactly that, and it stayed that way on purpose.
How it's built
Every tool here is plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript that runs in your browser. There is no framework to boot up and no analytics anywhere on the site. The only third-party code is Google AdSense, and it loads only if you accept advertising cookies. Keeping the default this light is also what makes the tools quick and lets them keep working even when you lose your connection.
The principles we build by
- One tool, one job, with no sprawling all-in-one panels
- Your input stays on your device unless you explicitly ask otherwise
- No accounts or trackers for anything that runs in the browser
- Fast to open, obvious to use, easy to leave
Have a tool you wish existed?
We keep a running list of what to build next, and reader suggestions shape it more than anything else.
